The opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Facility Manager to lead our Coppin Centre Residential Aged Care Facility, located in the heart of Melbourne. This is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for the overall operation of a large and complex aged care home, ensuring high standards of care, compliance, and resident satisfaction. About the Facility Coppin Centre is a vibrant residential aged care facility comprising 207 rooms across four distinct lodges: Coppin Lodge, Colbran Lodge, Moubray Lodge and Coppin Suites. Each area offers high-quality care tailored to the individual needs and preferences of our residents. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where residents feel valued and supported. The Role As the Facility Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and performance of the facility. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred care while ensuring compliance with aged care standards and driving continuous improvement. This role combines operational leadership with a strong focus on resident well-being, staff engagement, and financial performance. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale aged care or healthcare facilities. Key responsibilities Leadership & People Management - Lead, coach, and motivate a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and values-driven team culture
- Manage staff performance, recruitment, onboarding, and retention
- Ensure all team members are supported through education and development
Operational & Financial Management - Oversee day-to-day operations, including rostering, resourcing, and facilities upkeep
- Develop and manage budgets, monitor KPIs, and ensure financial sustainability
- Maintain occupancy rates through effective admissions and resident engagement
- Ensure efficient use of staffing and resources without compromising care quality
Clinical Governance & Compliance - Ensure adherence to Aged Care Quality Standards and legislative requirements
- Oversee clinical risk management, audits, and incident reporting processes
- Collaborate with clinical care teams to ensure care plans are accurate, current, and effective
- Monitor infection control, medication management, and resident safety protocols
Resident & Family Engagement - Promote a culture of resident dignity, independence, and wellbeing
- Act as a key point of contact for residents and families, addressing concerns proactively
- Create a welcoming, home-like environment and inclusive community
- Organise and support meaningful lifestyle and engagement programs
Continuous Improvement - Drive innovation, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practices
- Lead accreditation readiness and implement action plans for continuous compliance
- Monitor feedback channels and implement change based on insights
Qualifications, knowledge and requirements required for the role - Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Proven experience (minimum five (5) years) managing a residential aged care facility or a similar large-scale healthcare service.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, compliance frameworks, and accreditation processes
- Strong financial and business acumen, including experience in budgeting, reporting, and occupancy management
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage multidisciplinary teams
Other requirements A current, full drivers licence for the State of Victoria which is appropriate for the type of vehicle being driven and comply with any restrictions on their licence (e.g. wearing glasses). It is a mandatory requirement when working in the Aged Care sector to have a valid Police Clearance or National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Clearance, or potentially both, to undertake the inherent requirements of this role.
