The opportunity

The Royal Freemasons community is looking for an experienced and motivated Maintenance Officer to join our team 4 days a week at our Melbourne Residential Aged Care Facility in Melbourne Eastern suburbs.

The Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring all planned and corrective maintenance is carried out in a safe, effective and timely manner. Responding appropriately as required in a dynamic environment, the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team is imperative.

To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a strong background in general maintenance and repair tasks, excellent problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal skills, high level of organisational capability with the ability to assess and prioritise tasks. Strong competency in computer literacy and experience in using a CMMS or asset management software will be highly regarded.

Qualifications, knowledge and requirements required for the role

• Trade qualification and/or significant relevant experience.
• Experience in maintenance and grounds duties, preferably in an aged care environment
• Strong practical skills across maintenance disciplines, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general repair.
• Demonstrated experience in ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, in an environment with multiple and conflicting demands. 
• Strong computer literacy, experience with CMMS and asset management packages highly regarded
• Experience in contractor and external service provider management
• Exposure to scheduled maintenance programs and management thereof
• A current, full driver’s licence for the State of Victoria which is appropriate for the type of vehicle being driven, and comply with any restrictions on their licence (e.g. wearing glasses)

Other requirements 

It is a mandatory requirement when working in the Aged Care sector to have a valid Police Clearance or National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Clearance, or potentially both, to undertake the inherent requirements of this role. 

All aged care workers are encouraged to be vaccinated against Covid-19 (3 vaccines) and receive the Flu-Vaccine.
