The Opportunity 

 

Royal Freemasons is seeking an experienced and culturally skilled Cook specialising in Asian cuisine to join our Footscray Residential Aged Care Facility on a part‑time basis, working Monday to Thursday from 6:30am to 2:30pm.

 

In this role, you’ll prepare authentic and nutritious Asian‑style meals that reflect the cultural preferences of our residents, many of whom have Chinese and Vietnamese heritage. Your culinary skills will support residents’ comfort, health, and enjoyment  helping them feel at home through familiar flavours and high‑quality food.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook, and present meals in accordance with menu plans, dietary guidelines, and individual resident needs.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in line with the Food Safety Program.
  • Oversee and support Food Services Assistants during meal preparation and service.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment and storage areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
  • Contribute to a positive dining experience by promoting warmth, respect, and quality.

About You:

  • Previous experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally in aged care, healthcare, or commercial kitchen settings.
  • Ability to prepare authentic Chinese and/or Vietnamese cuisine.
  • Proficiency in Chinese or Vietnamese is highly regarded to support communication with residents.
  • Understanding of food safety, HACCP, and hygiene standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Relevant qualification in commercial cookery or equivalent experience.
